Heidi Montag returns to the studio to record a new single. The star of the reality TV show "The Hills" is attempting to make a transition from a TV star to a recording artist. She will be working with music producer Steve Morales. Today, Montag tweeted: "Heading into the music studio recording my new single! Steve Morales my music producer moves into my house tomorrow to make my summer album!"

Montag has a habit of using Twitter as her source for updating her fans about all the happenings in her life including professional and personal updates. She did not include in her Twitter statement when the album will be released. Montag released her first single "Higher" as a one-song contract with Warner Brothers in 2007. The song was available only on Apple iTunes and received a lot of responses.

Shaquille O'Neal did it. K-Fed did it. Paris Hilton did it. And now Heidi Montag has done it too. Somehow, some way each of these celebrities  and I use that term loosely  decided it would be a good idea to release a CD.

They each thought, "Yes, people want to hear me sing." Or rap. Montag -- the villainous co-star of "The Hills"  is the latest.

Her album, so aptly titled "Superficial," was released last week.

With a title like that, it's almost like she's mocking the full-of-herself attitude needed to release such a worthwhile (oops, worthless) vanity project.

Sadly, Montag is not alone in this quest to be famous (oops, vain). With that in mind, I present: "Top 10 People Who Had No Business Putting Out an Album ... But Did Anyway."

Heidi Montag’s debut album, “Superficial” is a commercial flop! And to think that she sunk all kinds of money into this colossal failure is just heartwarming for me.

She said that she basically went broke making the album for three years.

Nielsen Soundscan reports that she’s only sold 658 copies of her debut album.

This news leads to me to wonder if she’s going to give up the music business already to stay a crappy, annoying, paparazzi loving attention whore.

She's not really superficial Or so she says anyway. Heidi talks about her new album, Superficial, and how people don't really know who she is.

But do we even want to? Oh, and can we talk about how annoying Spencer Pratt is acting throughout this video?

Heidi Montag says she named her new album Superficial because she's playing right into the hands of everyone who uses that word to describe her.

She says, "This song is about how everybody just calls me superficial and says that I'm a bitch and only about fashion and everything, and they don't know..."

We don't even know if superficial is the word we would use to describe Heidi. We would probably use more of something along the lines of "fame whore," for both she and her husband Spencer Pratt. But Heidi continues, even saying she'll claim the title of superficial:
