Shaquille O'Neal did it. K-Fed did it. Paris Hilton did it. And now Heidi Montag has done it too. Somehow, some way each of these celebrities and I use that term loosely decided it would be a good idea to release a CD.
They each thought, "Yes, people want to hear me sing." Or rap. Montag -- the villainous co-star of "The Hills" is the latest.
Her album, so aptly titled "Superficial," was released last week.
With a title like that, it's almost like she's mocking the full-of-herself attitude needed to release such a worthwhile (oops, worthless) vanity project.
Sadly, Montag is not alone in this quest to be famous (oops, vain). With that in mind, I present: "Top 10 People Who Had No Business Putting Out an Album ... But Did Anyway."
10. Shaquille O'Neal: The larger-than-life basketball star did at least one thing right -- enlist co-stars who could make his otherwise awkward rap songs listenable.
9. Eddie Murphy: Eddie's attempt at music might be funnier than any movie he's made since the 2000s. But at least he was able to make three albums and one song people can remember the words to -- "Party All the Time."
8. Brian Austin Green: Sometimes the line between reality and TV gets confused. Green played a would-be musician on "Beverly Hills 90210," then, in 1996, he decided to put out a real album. But he did end up dating Megan Fox. So maybe I should shut up.
7. Miley Cyrus: She sounds like a 36-year-old dude who smokes two packs a day. Yeah, I said it.
6. Don Johnson: Sorry, dude, I've heard way better singers at the local karaoke night than you on "Heartbeat."
5. Kevin Federline: The pride of Clovis proved he couldn't rap on his 2006 CD, "Playing With Fire." But at least, unlike some others on this list, he was connected to the music industry. Tupac started as a back-up dancer too.
4. Corey Feldman: Look, I loved "Goonies," "Stand By Me" and "License to Drive" as much as the next '80s adolescent, but putting out a CD? He lived up to the title of another of his popular movies: "Lost Boys."
3. Deion Sanders: Not happy with being a two-sport star, "Neon Deion" decided he wanted to rap in 1994. To put it in football terms: Fumble!
2. Paris Hilton: She was more justified in putting out a sex tape than a CD. Her first single rang oh so true, "Stars are Blind."
1. Heidi Montag: If you read the tabloids, you know this second-rate Paris Hilton is trying to plastic surgery herself into being a real-life Barbie. Making "Barbie's First CD" was a heinous idea.
